Queens Grove School follows the Ontario Elementary School Curriculum with extended enrichment in science, math, social science, English, French, and Arts.
The Math curriculum is organized in five areas with social-emotional learning skills and mathematical processes taught and assessed through number, algebra, data, spatial sense, and financial literacy.
A central component of the science curriculum is safe, practical, hands-on, experiential learning that will support students in becoming successful, discerning, scientifically, and technologically literate individuals.
The English language curriculum is organized into four strands: Oral Communication, Reading, Writing, and Media Literacy.
Students will learn to read, understand, and communicate in French with growing confidence, while developing the knowledge, skills, and perspectives they need to participate fully as citizens in Canada and in the world.
Social studies is an interdisciplinary subject that draws upon economics, geography, history, law, and politics.
History in Grade 7 and 8 focuses on developing critical thinking of significant historic events and people. Students critically analyze the impact of colonialism, the Indian Act, the residential school system, treaties, and systemic racism on Indigenous individuals and communities in Canada and interpret these events through the prism of moral and ethical dimensions.
Learning through the arts fosters integration of a student’s sensory, cognitive, emotional, and motor capacities.
